Item Description
From same maker and in same format as previous item #2636, only w/different contents. This set is for "UFO Robot Grendizer," a Super Robot TV anime and manga created by manga artist Go Nagai. It is the third entry in the Mazinger trilogy. It was broadcast on Japanese television from Oct. 5, 1975, to Feb. 27, 1977, lasting 74 episodes. The robot's first appearance in the US was as part of the "Shogun Warriors" line of robot toys imported in the late 1970s by Mattel, then in Jim Terry's "Force Five" series, both under the title "Grandizer." It is still widely popular in the Middle East, and it was especially popular in France and Quebec, as well as among French-speaking Canadians in the province of New Brunswick, where it was aired under the title Goldorak. In Italy, the series was as popular and known as "Goldrake," hence the name marketed on this Italian-made gun and holster set. ©1978 Toei Animation Co. Ltd./Rai. Issued w/totally different, 9.5" long plastic battery-operated gun comes w/specific holster and large character sticker and pack of batteries (which are aged and appear to be slightly leaking, though not affecting packaging). Plastic lid shows some lt. wear as does box. Fine/VF overall. Box features great images of Grandizer and supporting cast, w/back panel featuring them all. Contents remain NM as packaged.
