Item Description
16.75x19” thin art board w/16.5x18.25” India ink image area w/nine panels. Dated “8-28”, but actually published Nov. 18 as seen in the Fantagraphics reprint book for years 1927-28, page 109. Don Kiyoti is introducing mayoral candidate Mr. Wough Wuph Wuff to Ignatz, Officer Pupp, brickyard owner Kollin Kelly, and Krazy Kat as they watch from bench in Herriman Coconino County ever changing desert landscape. Long winded politician Wuff begins running down a list of “Evil Brick Tossing “ items he’ll do away with as Ignatz leaves, followed by “No Use For Cops” as Officer Pupp leaves, “Cast Into Oblivion The Brick Yard” as Kelly leaves. Krazy Kat is left sitting alone, answering “No” after Wuff asks him “Is There Anything Else You Want?” Last panel has Wuff tipping his hat to an empty bench as Don Kiyoti tells him it’s “Tea Time”. Center panel has tree w/heart image at center w/initials “I.M.K.K.” Lower right corner is signed in ink by creator “Herriman”. Left and right margins have age toning w/scattered moisture marks extending into sides of image area. Scattered light dust soil. Syndicate tag is missing from bottom left corner panel. Art board is attached at top of back to mat board, but easily removable. Overall Good/VG. A well drawn superior example of the classic strip with Krazy Kat in seven panels and anti-brick theme.
