Item Description
20.5x28.5" artboard w/India ink and mixed media art. This and the following item (#1884) are 1980s recreations by Doug West. West has since become one of the premiere sports artists, his professional work for MLB, NBA and NHL includes cover art, card art and lithographs. This painting is a recreation of artists Ed Hannigan, Bernie Wrightson and Gaspar Saladino's cover to the Aug., 1975 "Astonishing Tales" #31 comic book. The story "Twice Removed from Yesterday..." deals w/popular antihero Deathlok, who had made his first appearance in issue #25 just months before.
West's art expands upon the original, altering it a bit to show Deathlok from a slightly different view, w/him shooting one gun instead of two. Signed in ink by artist at lower left. Exc. Comes w/a reading copy of the actual comic book.
