Item Description
The match case is hard rubber and from the 1890s. 3" tall. Front has two images of their famous logo and promotes their "Soda." The case was once black all over but the front has faded. Still displays well with very interesting pattern which seems to combine both the tortoise shell and floral ideas. Unfortunately top cover reverse has vertical crack its length plus tiny 1/16" speck of missing material on top edge. Still front and back both display nicely. The next three items are from a company founded by F.W. Blees who also founded a military academy in 1899 in Macon, Missouri. The company made surgical instruments along with hospital and physicians' supplies. The first item shows their logo on a large 1.5" brass circle with long stickpin reverse. Text reads "Compliments Of Blees-Moore Inst. Co./St. Louis." Next is a figural brass bee with the company name "Blees" on its back. This is a lapel stud. Last is the same figural bee but here mounted on a 1.75" stickpin. Nice group of early medical related items.
