Item Description
7-1/8x22-5/8" art board has 5-7/8x20-1/8" India ink image area with four panels for Dec. 12. Storyline has villain Karpse in hospital room covered in bandages to hide his real identity with Tracy in same room with bandages over his eyes. In the previous Sunday strip Tracy had shown Karpse a photo of the villain he's looking for and Karpse burns the photo and throws it out the window. This daily has Pat Patton and a detective coming to the hospital to see Tracy and seeing burning paper being thrown out of Tracy's room window. Last panel has Karpse telling Tracy "I Think I'll Go Back To My Room Now, Nurse. Good Bye, Mr. Tracy" as Tracy says "S'long, Janings. I Enjoyed The Visit." Art is boldly signed in ink at the bottom of panel three by cartoonist-creator Chester Gould and panel two has Chicago Tribune copyright sticker. Blank top margin has comic strip title in pencil "Ashes From A Window". Blank margins have some lt. dust soil, art and title area will mat and frame to near Exc. appearance. A well drawn early example.
