Item Description
5 feet x 7 feet acrylic on canvas painting. This gigantic mural was created for Capital City Distributions, who originally published "Nexus" comics. This is the only mural ever done by Rude and to date is his largest piece. Image of Nexus (Horatio Hellpop) flying out of the mural in forced perspective is larger than life. Sundra Peale is in the foreground with sunflowers and cute animals. In the vibrant purplish background area are ghosted images of the supporting cast of the Nexus books. Included are Ursala X.X., Scarlet and Sheena Imada, Claude, Dave, Tyrone, Judah Maccabee, Mezzrow, Jilquoix Desmoot, Alpha and Clonezone. In 1981, Rude became widely known in the comics world when he and writer Mike Baron created Nexus, an independent science fiction comic book with a large supporting cast. Rude has won four Eisner Awards and one Kirby Award, as well as a Russ Manning Award. Rude has credited comic book artist and animator Alex Toth as a major influence. Canvas is framed on edges and in original condition as created. Exc. Incredibly large, beautiful and truly impressive display piece. This is the ultimate Nexus artwork for the Steve Rude fan.
