Item Description
11x14" title card for Republic serial chapter ten "The Avenging Corpse" has image of Capt. America at upper left punching villain and at lower right holding gun on villains with two other photos showing him as his alter ego district attorney Grant Gardner. Comes with three stills, each 8x10" glossy. First is still for this 1944 release with closeup image of Dick Purcell as Captain America. Other two are from 1953 re-release which was retitled "Return of Captain America" and both are different scenes with him holding gun on villains. Lobby card has margin tear otherwise very clean and VF/Exc. All stills are glossy and VF. Plot line has Captain America trying to stop the plans of the Scarab who is actually a museum curator regarding his attempts to acquire the dynamic vibrator and electronic fire bolt which could be used as super weapons. The serial had an unusual plot device in that the identity of the villain is known to the audience from the beginning. This serial was the most expensive of all Republic serials as well as the most over budget. Star Dick Purcell died a few weeks after filming was completed. All four items feature great images of Captain America.
