Item Description
1.5" made by Donnelly/Colt Buttons, Ct. The group Refuse & Resist! was a human rights activist organization founded in NYC in 1987 by numerous people including Emile de Antonio, Abby Hoffman, William Kunstler and others concerned that the American government under President Reagan represented a right-wing political program directed against the rights of the American people. Haring created the logo the year this button was issued in 1988. The group had offices in many larger American cities and in 1988 this button was produced for a concert at the New York Palladium which included performances by Sinead O'Connor, Afrika Bambaataa, De La Soul, Ikey C & Easy-Ad, Karen Finley, Lenny Kaye, Shinehead, and others. The group opposed censorship, war, and police brutality. They worked to expand reproductive freedom and supported rights for immigrants. The group officially dissolved in 2006. Scarce and Mint.
