Item Description
Page #17 from Nov. 1975. 10.5x16" thin art board has 10x15" India ink image area with six panels. Spider-man is watching from above as hearse pulls up and gangsters get out and unload a coffin with air holes leading him to swing into action. He's shown in panel #3 in distant background hanging on to building and close up in panel 4 and in action in panel 6. Art is signed in orange ballpoint pen between first and second panel tiers "Sal Buscema". Page is from story "Any Number Can Slay!" which featured Spider-man and the Human Torch together. Story was written by Bill Mantlo and inked by Mike Esposito. Though not shown, the storyline has the mobsters having captured the Human Torch who is in the casket. Blank top and bottom margin edges each have tan marks from old cellophane tape. Image area has a few blue pencil corrections here and there but will mat and frame to VF+ appearance. Well drawn with classic image of Spidey in panel 3.
