Item Description
Pennsylvania Congressman Neiman Craley invited LBJ to visit Dallastown, PA for the town's centennial Sept. 3, 1966 and LBJ accepted. This multi-item lot includes: a) 3.25x8" stiff card with printed text "Press Visit Of President Johnson To Dallastown Centennial September 3, 1966" with red serial number "35." This card was also postally canceled with same date. At the card's center (upside down compared to the other autographs) the President wrote his initials "LBJ." Card also has signatures of Congressman Craley, "LaVerne K Orwig Mayor", former PA Governor "George M. Leader", "Postmaster Eugene Gemmill", and "Janet W. Dize." Slight tanning at bottom margin. Other items include: b) 8x10" color photo of LBJ and wife in crowd; c) 16 snapshots (3.75x5") probably reprints but from the era with nine showing LBJ and seven general views of event; d) 8.5x11" sheet with recipe presented "To Lady Bird Johnson From Dallastown Pa. (for) York County's Recipe For Habit-Forming Chicken Corn Soup" (centerfold); e) press release from White House Press Secretary (8.5x14") with text of Johnson's speech on three pages; plus two other press releases and numerous newspaper clippings relating to the event.
