6-7/8x9.75" vol.1 #2 for Oct. 1934 has stiff paper covers and 20 well illustrated b/w pages. Published by The Colored Baseball & Sports Pub. Co. New York City. Front cover photo of Oscar Charleston in Pittsburgh uniform shaking hands with Richard "Dick" Lundy in Newark uniform. Articles with photos include "The Pittsburgh Crawfords" with photo of Morney, Williams, Johnson, and Oscar Charleston. Article mentions Cool Papa Bell "The Fastest Player In Baseball Anywhere" and W. Bell pitcher as well as Satchel Paige. Next photo article is on Leroy "Satchel" Paige with image of him pitching. Next photo article is on William "Bill" Yancy titled "The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Of Athletics" showing him in baseball uniform on field and on basketball court with ball. "Hot Pocket" Trent (Theodore Trent), is shown in uniform playing ball and article mentions he has never lost a game to a major league all star team. Centerfold is devoted to the "Newark Baseball Club" with nice double page photo of 16-member team in uniform including Richard Lundy. Other photo articles include Richard Seay holding bat, William "Big C" Johnson leaning on bat, full pages devoted to the Philadelphia Stars, the Jax Red Caps, and the Pennsylvania Red Caps with photos showing teams in full uniforms. Issue also includes text articles including "The Bacharch Giants" and "Qualifying A Colored Team In Majors". Issue also includes text article on "Charles Lefty Williams Old Faithful" who has been with the Homestead Grays since 1915. Front and back covers have light creasing and dust soil and each has vertical crease running through center. Back cover ads have some pencil scribbling. Covers still bright and Good. First inside page has 2" tear at upper left corner seam area o/w pages are Fine. Rare. We sold the first issue of this publication in our last auction for $4,025. Very limited distribution.
