Item Description
14x22.5” thin cardboard mount has 9-5/8x14.25” high quality print attached to center with wonderful painting of young man apparently proposing to pretty girl who is thinking it over. Art is signed at lower left “Clarence F. Underwood” along with tiny text “Printed In Germany.” Additional sheet underneath has printed title “The Old, Old Story” with additional text “From The Original Painting By Clarence F. Underwood.” Left side has No. 5029D.L., right side has “Copyright 1913 By Wolf & Co., Phila.” Bottom has 2-1/8x4.25” 1915 calendar pad attached. Top has 2 die-cut holes for hanging, left side has imprint of “General Merchandise” store in Tohickon, Pa. Calendar pad cover has a few lt. handling creases, inside has archival tape repair. Full pad remains. Upper sides of print have a few tiny age specks, sheet underneath has tiny tear at upper left and right bottom edge. Mount has a few very lt. and barely noticeable corner creases at bottom. VF/Exc. appearance overall. Clarence Underwood (1871-1929) was a successful pretty girl artist whose wonderful images graced many magazines and books of the day. Wonderful image with high quality printing.
