Item Description
8-7/8x15.75” typed contract dated Dec. 4, 1933 between The Vitaphone Corporation and Edgar Bergen of Charlie McCarthy fame. This contract pre-dates Bergen’s radio debut with Charlie McCarthy on Dec. 17, 1936. Vitaphone was a sound film process used by Warner Bros. and First National Studios to put sound on discs for playing with films. Contract is for Bergen “To Render Services In The Making Of Photoplay.” Contract goes on to state that Vitaphone has final say over approval or rejection of Bergen’s work and that Bergen would make $1,375 for each photoplay completed and approved. Contract has been folded into quarters and signed in blue ink by Bergen at bottom along with Vitaphone representative. Has .25” moisture spot by this name. Bergen signature remains unaffected and displays VF. Contract itself is Fine+. Comes with Hake’s COA.
