Item Description
2-7/8x4.25” silver cigarette case with detailed enamel accents on front and back lids. Lid front has classic image of Ignatz throwing brick at Krazy Kat’s head as Offisa Pupp looks on. Nice checkered border. Back has image of Krazy Kat and Ignatz who points at sky. Heavy brass case with silver plating. Front and back scenes are each on separately hand-crafted silver/enamel panels made by Louis Mueller, a contemporary studio jeweler, sculptor and designer of furniture and overall artist and associate of Richard Merkin at the Rhode Island School of Design where he was a department chair. Mueller’s work was included in the permanent collections of the American Craft Museum in New York City, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and The Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Cigarette case has inscription “For Richard – L. Mueller, January 18, 1977.” Overall lt. tarnish gives nice patina but could clean if desired. Exc. overall. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
