Item Description
2-3/8x4.25x1-7/8” deep box contains 4” tall smiling full figure with hand at chest and incised “Dis Sope Is Grate See!” text on nightshirt. c. 1896. Figure has darkened with age and metal pin eyes have oxidation. .25” chip to tip of left foot and tiny sliver from left ear though this appears to be as made. Fine/VF display. Nicely preserved. Box lid has nice Yellow Kid image in red with placard on chest reading “Oh! But I’m Full Of Lather!” and is marked with “David S. Brown & Co. Soaps And Perfumery” name. Large “The Yellow Kid” name at top along with model “No. 200.” Box has 3 corner splits and 1” edge split but o/w retains its shape. Lt. dust soiling. VG+. First example we’ve seen boxed.
