Item Description
16.5x32" high quality frame contains original pen and ink art that has been professionally double-matted to 6.25x22.5". The Shmoo debuted on Aug. 31, 1948. Art is for Oct. 6, 1948 daily strip that featured the mass killing of the lovable and popular Shmoo by gun-wielding government agents. ©1948 United Feature Syndicate, Inc. paste-over at bottom of last of 2 panels. Strip features Abner leading the Shmoos to their deaths in neat rows of 6, the last panel showing Shmoos flying through the air w/holes in them as they are shot. This causes Abner to cry. Some lt. scattered aging, but art remains Exc. A great early eample of one of the most enduring Li'L Abner characters - the Shmoo.
