Item Description
14.25x19-3/8" thin artboard. Pen and ink art from Vol. 1, #9 Mar., 1941 issue. Street & Smith Publications Inc. Issue was written by Walter B. Gibson with art by Vernon Greene. Art depicts The Shadow leaping from runaway car as it careens through fence and off cliff. Shadow story entitled "Mystery Of The Sealed Box." This and "The Realm Of Ghosts" back-up story were listed at blank marquee area at bottom which shows back-up characters The Hooded Wasp and sidekick Wasplet at bottom right-hand corner. .5x2" date paste-on below title. Original "10¢" cover price block has glue residue from Canadian price paste-over as well as 1" area of glue discoloration to grille of car from missing license plate paste-over. Margin wear with 5 sets of staple holes at top margin which show traces of oxidation. Margins have blue pencil production notation including "Follow Color Dummy For All Coloring" at top. Margins are VG but art area remains clean and displays Fine. Great action scene.
