Item Description
These nice quality costumes are by Wornova Manufacturing Co. of New York. Each is a two-piece fabric outfit and each is accented by a 3" dia. felt patch on chest, one featuring Mickey, the other Minnie. Mickey is also detailed with a pair of felt buttons and has the original rubber tail. These were originally obtained from Hooper & Howe, a costume supply house from Haverhill, Mass. This company was in business from 1902 to 1998 and were a large supplier of costumes for stage, shows and parades. However, these two particular costumes were apparently samples as they do not exhibit any wear from use. Each costume has been professionally framed by a person who specializes in framing sports uniforms resulting in the ultimate display for these classic costumes. Each frame has an overall size of 33x45x2" deep. As framed, each is accompanied by a reproduction b/w photo of a Macy's Day Parade which shows a Mickey Mouse balloon and float both manned by a number of people dressed in these costumes. This photo appears at left center of Minnie, unfortunately the photo w/Mickey has come loose from the backing and is tucked behind one pant leg so currently not visible. As the photo shows, these costumes were originally sold with matching masks and oversized hand mitts, none of which are present but also in no way affects their display as is. Both of the felt patches show light aging to the white bkgs. but silkscreen designs remain strong. Mickey's pants have some scattered areas of slight color fade but both outfits overall remain totally bright and clean. Aside from the pants fade, costumes are VF to Exc. Consignor has set a very conservative opening which does not even cover the cost of the framing which ran $400 apiece. An exceptional pair and as framed would easily become a focal point of a Disney collection, but also make great display pieces on their own.
