Item Description
This is the first supernatural comic ever published. It first appeared at the beginning of 1947 and this title must have looked terrifying when it hit the stands. Silhouetted by a full yellow moon, a devilish fiend with a knife is slowly descending the stairs of a decaying ruin. At the bottom, a helpless, bound woman looks up in terror at her possible fate. This issue is a perfect example of everything that Seduction of the Innocent would end up fighting against in a few years. Published by Avon Periodicals, the book features artwork by Joe Kubert as well as Bob Fugitani. Under this title, it lasted 17 issues and with #18, it became Strange Worlds. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-certified VF/NM 9.0. It is labeled as the first horror comic. This is the highest grade that CGC has given to any copy of this book. According to their census, there is only one other 9.0 out there. The 34th edition of the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide singles this issue out as “scarce”.
