Item Description
This set is c. 1934-1935 and in a box 8x11x1" deep. The box lid is wrapped in paper featuring repeating illustrations of Mickey, Minnie, each of the Three Pigs, The Big Bad Wolf. Illustrations are captioned w/character's name or related phases. Each of the four box corners is split but detracts little. On one box side is a very small tear in the paper covering but overall the lid is clean and VF. Box bottom is slightly concave on the underside w/one break along one side panel. Contents of this set, which is the first we've ever offered and the only one we know of, are essentially Mint as issued w/just the most minimal traces of wear. Contents consist of six pieces, all mounted on a large 8x11" card w/Mickey's printed name along w/images of him and Pluto plus a Disney copyright. The six mounted pieces consist of a fabric bow tie, a card picturing "Mickey Mouse" which holds leather strap and beautiful enamel on brass watch fob, a 7/8" beautifully colored litho tin button,(see item #2265) one of the few full color 1930s Mickey buttons. Below the button is a large 3.25x8" card titled "Make Your Mark With A Mickey Mouse Pencil." A section of this card is raised up and this has a cut-out silhouette of Mickey so that most of the text on the inserted pencil can be read. The cardboard also holds an irregularly shaped eraser and this is one of the few items on which Mickey displays a noticeably angry expression. Perhaps his expression relates to the printed text below which is "Let Him Rub Out All Your Mistakes." Rare. From the Deak Stagemyer Collection.
