Item Description
This auction presents something truly special for fans of The Beatles - the finest known example of a full ticket from their historic final concert before a paying audience, which took place August 29, 1966 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, CA. Struggling to compete with the volume of sound generated by screaming fans, the band recognized that their shows were no longer about the music, and decided to make the August tour their last. It marked the end of four years dominated by almost non-stop touring that included over 1,400 concert appearances internationally. Concert was present by KYA Radio 1260 and ticket features photo portraits of Ringo Starr, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Ticket was for Lower Stand Admission (Gate E, Section 44, Seat 160) and cost $4.50. This is the highest graded example extant of this historic ticket and according to the PSA Census, the only such one in existence. To give some perspective as to how rare obtaining the high grade of a PSA 9 is for this item (or any ticket of this age), there are 54 examples total of this ticket in the PSA Census. Only four are a PSA 8, all others, excluding the one we are offering this auction, grade a PSA 7 or lower. As a comparison, there is a continuing rise in demand and value for The Beatles' 1966 Shea Stadium concert poster, even as more discoveries are brought to auction. In April 2022 a new record was set when one of these posters sold for $275,000. As for this PSA 9 ticket, it is highly unlikely a nicer example of this historic concert ticket will present itself, making this a likely unique opportunity to add a true Beatles rarity and investment grade piece to your collection.
