Item Description
11x17" DC Comics artboard has pencil original art by Duncan Eagleson that has been inked by Vince Locke. Art is for page 22 of Sandman Vol. 2 #38, published by DC under their Vertigo banner June 1992. Eagleson is a self-trained painter and former graffiti artist whose career has included designing book covers for Doubleday Books, Tor Books and others as well as creating movie posters and comic book art such as that offered here. Of note, Sandman #38 was the only issue Eagleson worked on. Page has seven panels, showing Lucien leading Vassaly through The Dreaming's library w/hopes of avoiding Dream's attention. The plan backfires as they are discovered by Dream, who demands an explanation. This is part of the acclaimed "The Hunt" storyline and one of only three pages Dream appears on in this issue. Top panel featuring large scene of library is pasted on panel featuring original art. Word balloons and captions are pasted stats. Top margin has inked title and issue/page numbers and faint strip of tape staining along top edge from previously attached overlay. Top and left/right margins have printer registration labels. Back has DC copyright stamp. Some lt. rippling to artboard, but art remains clean and Exc. A rare opportunity for comic art collectors to obtain a piece of Sandman art from a very limited quantity by this artist.
