Item Description
14.5x21-3/8" artboard features pen and ink original art by Mike Sekowsky, inked by Bernard Sachs for Justice League Of America Vol. 1 #19, published by DC Comics May 1963. This issue saw the Justice League members reveal their secret identities to each other for the first time. Page 16 features six panels, showing Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Green Arrow discussing the need to change into their secret identities in order to return to Earth (from which they had been banished for crimes committed by dopplegangers). Batman notes Aquaman does not have a secret identity and therefore can't return. The heroes (Aquaman aside) then abscond to their private rooms and emerge in their civilian identities. Last two panels show Barry Allen, Diana Prince, John Jones, Ray Palmer, Oliver Queen, Hal Jordan, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent (Superman) introducing themselves. Of note, bottom margin has red pencil initials to help the colorist keep the characters straight. As the only woman present, Wonder Woman's initials are not included. Top margin has "Justice League Of America" title stat w/DC logos at left right and inked month of publication as well as issue/page numbers. Back has Comics Code Authority inkstamp. Art is bright, clean and Exc. Historic Silver Age DC original art, featuring a pivotal moment in the Justice League's story.
