Item Description
13.5x20.25" artboard has Al Plastino's pen and ink original art for page 1 of Superman Vol. 1 #184, published by DC Comics Feb. 1966. Splash page art shows Superman (depowered by exposure to a red sun) facing imminent injury and/or death as champion archer from the primitive people of the planet Zonda fires arrow at him. Superman shows obvious concern as sweat drips from his forehead and his hand-lettered thought balloon scrambles for a solution to this perilous situation. Large, nearly full body image of Superman appears at left. Artboard has text block w/hand-lettered character/story synopsis and story title. Large "Superman" title/logo at top is pasted stat w/some lt. glue staining at bottom edge and aged pieces of tape at left/right. Top margin has inked title, issue/page numbers and month of publication. Information is repeated at bottom margin and right margin has some handwritten coloring notations. Comics Code Authority inkstamp on back. Some scattered aging and lt. handling wear, but art remains clean and Exc. Great Silver Age Superman original art.
