Item Description
10.5x15.75" artboard has pen and ink original art by Howard Chaykin for Star Wars #3, published by Marvel Sept. 1977. Art is for page 7 and was inked by Steve Leialoha. Art is from Part 3 of Star Wars: A New Hope movie adaptation, and features Obi-Wan Kenobi training Luke Skywalker in the Force w/the aid of a Marksman-H combat remote. Page features seven panels, showing the training droid getting the better of Luke in first panel, prompting Obi-Wan to place a helmet on Luke's head, obscuring his view. Luke protests, but Obi-Wan tells him to "Stretch Out With Your Feelings" and to use the Force. Last panel shows Luke blocking the droid's blast w/his lightsaber. Luke appears in all but one panel while Obi-Wan appears in three panels. Art has been signed at lower left margin in black felt tip pen by Chaykin and Leialoha, w/Chaykin adding "To Bill - Best Wishes" inscription. Top margin  has stamped/handwritten "Star Wars" title along w/issue/page numbers. Bottom right margin has continuation paste-over strip. Back has "For Bill W." inscription and Marvel copyright stamp. Front's top/bottom center margins have aged strips of tape and upper right corner has been clipped and left margin has slight trim (neither affecting art/text in any way). Art remains clean and displays Exc. Classic comic depiction of pivotal film scene.
