Item Description
2.25" button w/spring pin holds pair of 4" fabric ribbons and comes w/matching felt beanie. Rim curl marked "Blanckensee & Co. Phila, 6, Pa." Issued for opening day game April, 15, 1954 for which the home team Philadelphia Phillies defeated the visiting NY Giants 2-0. Button text includes "Ironing Board Section", ribbons read "KYW 1060" and hat text is "Jack Pyle KYW Section." Pyle worked in the Philadelphia broadcast market for decades. He was truly a pioneer in the medium of radio and television. During the 1950s, Jack worked for KYW Radio and oftentimes covered the local Philadelphia sports teams as well as reporting on the weather. Inducted into the Philadelphia Radio Broadcasters HOF in 2009. Lt. trace of aging but all remains Exc. overall. Rare and obscure baseball memento.
