Item Description
The Pokémon franchise first debuted in Japan in 1996 as a video game for Nintendo's Game Boy handheld gaming system - Pocket Monsters: Red and Pocket Monsters: Green (w/a special edition follow-up Pocket Monster: Blue released later that same year). The Pocket Monsters franchise also branched out to the trading card game (TCG) scene and this Charizard card is from the 1996 Japanese series, equivalent of the first Pokémon series released in the US in 1999. Card features artwork by noted Pocket Monsters/Pokémon artist Mitsuhiro Arita and is lacking the symbol at lower right, designating this as a "No Rarity" card, which was the first version produced and is rarer and highly coveted amongst collectors. Card exhibits typical centering shift.
