Item Description
In 1967 Roy Thomas and Wally Wood teamed to create a series of 16 mini comics for Topps that parodied superheroes, including The Flush (The Flash), Badman (Batman) and more. Offered here is 6x7-3/8" trimmed section of artboard w/pen and ink original art by Wood (1927-1981) for the cover, featuring the Jester's League of America, an obvious play on the Justice League of America. Title logo bears close resemblance to the JLA logo of the period and art depicts Wonder Woman pushing Superman, who is tripped by Batman. The Atom has placed a lit match in Batman's boot and is unaware of the egg that Green Lantern has just broken above him. Hand-lettered text at bottom reads "Starring The World's Biggest Super Goofs!" Top center and upper right margins have some tape staining and bottom center has aged strip of masking tape. Artboard has some margin aging, but art remains clean and would mat for Exc. display. Great humorous take of some of DC Comics' biggest heroes.
