Item Description
26.5x33.75" frame contains oil painting original art that has been professionally and attractively double-matted to 16.25x23.5" and depicts Tarzan-like hero brandishing cutlass and length of chain alongside the Green Princess, who hefts a spear in defense of a chained, fully nude woman as group of four villainous, hooded men approach w/weapons in hand. Of note, The Green Princess is bare-breasted and chained captive exhibits full frontal nudity. Art is by Peruvian artist Boris Vallejo, best known for his hyper-representational paintings, which have appeared on the covers of numerous sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks and are featured in a series of best-selling calendars. Subjects of his paintings are typically sword and sorcery gods, monsters, and well-muscled male and female barbarians engaged in battle. This piece was published as limited edition lithographs in 1976. Vallejo has signed at bottom, just left of center. Art has tiny surface scratch above Green Princess's head, but o/w displays Exc. as professionally matted and framed. Stunning scene. Bill Kamper Tarzan Collection.
