Item Description
15.5x21.75" artboard w/attached vellum overlay has pen and ink original art for cover to Buck Rogers #100 (#7), published by Toby Publishing in 1951. Art is by Charles Sultan, known for his work during the Golden Age of comics (where he created Spy Smasher for Fawcett) as well as for his pulp fiction work. Cover art shows Buck Rogers and Dr. Huer having been transported to the Korean War, w/flying saucers visible in bkg. Sultan has signed at lower right. Main image area is comprised of four separate artboard sections, which have been cut out and assembled on main artboard. Pasted title stat and publishing info stats at top in appropriate areas. Overlay has even moderate aging and bears handwritten color notes in red pencil. Main image area piece has lifted along bottom and some scattered glue staining is visible around edges of applied artboard pieces, but art remains clean and VF overall. Would make for nice framed display. Gene Seger Buck Rogers Collection.
