Item Description
Original 12x14x37.5" illustrated cardboard box contains plastic child's riding toy designed like the iconic Batmobile, which was produced in different color varieties. Marx, ©1966 NPP, Inc. Box graphics feature different illustration on each panel, showing Batman and Robin w/Batmobile toy, child w/toy and images of toy along w/text noting special features including "Modern Wheel Design, Real Tail Fins, Steering Wheel, Exciting 'Play' Bat Phone." Large batsymbol graphics on each panel. Box remains factory-sealed and has noticeable inward warp to one main side panel, w/some resulting edge creases. Box shows some scattered shelf wear, including dust soiling and corner tip wear. Some trace surface wear and faint spot of moisture staining to Batman's chin on side panel. Fine overall but still a nice example for display. Batmobile is designed w/batsymbol-shaped steering wheel and squeaking horn. Car has spring tension motor that operated by pushing Batmobile back, then releasing push-down brake handle and lifting feet to be propelled forward. Issued w/cape/cowl poncho and set of four miniature tools, which are typically missing. Toy was issued w/batsymbol and "Batmobile" stickers and features intricately and realistically-detailed dash w/several knobs that can be turned and has directional gear levers. Factory-sealed, old store stock. Great large toy and certainly the nicest Batmobile collectible produced during the 1966 Batmania craze. Very rare and the first we have offered in this unused state.
