Item Description
13-3/8x19.5" artboard has pen and ink original art by Al Williamson (of EC Comics fame) w/inks by Ralph Mayo for title splash page from Jann Of The Jungle #17, published by Marvel June 1957. Art is for first page of Voodoo Vengeance! story and features three panels, showing Jann of the Jungle under a spell and unable to move as she's surrounded by lions and leopards in first panel. Second and third panels are flashbacks, showing Jann confronting man looting elephant graveyard for ivory. Last panel has screentone accents to elephant bones and image of man at right is cut out replacement on Crafttint board w/pen and ink w/inkwash original art. Williamson has signed bottom of first panel in black ink. Word balloon in second panel has word cut out and replaced. Top portion of artboard features large pasted title stat and this section has been cut and attached to board w/brown tape on back. Top margin has inked "Jann" title abbreviation and issue/page numbers and center left margin has tiny inked title and issue number. Partial Comics Code Authority inkstamp at bottom right. Scattered margin dust soiling but art remains clean and VF overall.
