Item Description
18x23" artboard has India ink original art w/11 panels, Felix appearing in six panels for Sept. 17, 1933 Sunday page in which Felix and friend want to go to the movies. They wash a car to earn ticket money, only for car to start and take off, leading to all sorts of mayhem. The owner of the car is arrested for traffic violations and damages that he just doesn't understand while Felix and friend can't figure out how to stop the car. Original art is by Otto Messmer, who created Felix the Cat for the Pat Sullivan animation studio in 1919. Complete w/King Features Syndicate copyright paste-over in last panel. Artboard has some scattered editorial notations and small printer's centering holes at edges to mark placement of panels. Margins show some lt. aging. Corner foxing but art are remains clean for the most part. VF to Exc. and would make for nice framed display. Great Sunday w/a car chase, w/the added bonus of being from the 1930s.
