Item Description
10.5x16" thin artboard has pen and ink original art by legendary Marvel and DC artist George Pérez w/inks by Klaus Janson for page 2 of "Creatures On The Loose" published by Marvel January 1975 from the story "Deathgame!" Man-Wolf was showcased this issue and page features eight panels, showing John Jameson (son of J. Jonah Jameson and alter ego of the werewolf character Man-Wolf) in three flashback panels while Simon Stroud vows vengence against Man-Wolf. This is early Pérez art as he made his professional debut in Marvel's "Astonishing Tales" #25 (Aug. 1974) as artist of an untitled two-page Deathlok story. He soon became a Marvel regular, rising to prominence w/"The Avengers" in the mid-1970s, going on to illustrate several other Marvel titles. Stamped title at top margin along w/handwritten issue/page numbers. Back has Marvel copyright stamp. Artboard has some lt. aging/handling wear w/strips of lt. tape staining at top center and bottom right margins, not affecting art. Small tear top center and right lower side. Tape across bottom edge over type stats and holding edge of last panel stat of hand w/gun w/small tear, that was repositioned into panel. Also white-out over old image edges, but art still displays Fine. See next lot for page 23 of this issue.
