Item Description
17x17.5" framed contains hand-inked and painted image area depicting Charlie McCarthy from the lower legs up and has been matted to 8x9" w/repainted bkg. that includes rest of Charlie's legs/feet. Charlie McCarthy was one of many Hollywood celebrities that appeared in the 1938 animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions and distributed by RKO Radio Pictures. The film parodies several Mother Goose nursery rhymes using caricatures of popular Hollywood film stars of the 1930s and was nominated for an Academy Award. Cel was originally sold by Courvoisier Galleries, c. 1938. Cel has been taped to bkg. at top corners and this has shifted within frame slightly. Cel is complete and aside from tiny hairline at Charlie's neck, cel displays VF as framed under glass. Cels from this short are incredibly difficult to locate and are in high demand. Rare.
