Item Description
6-3/8x20" artboard features pen and ink original art (w/screentone accents) for May 9, 1966 Rip Kirby daily strip, part of The Shape Of Things To Come storyline set in the future. Art is by John Prentice (1920-1999), the cartoonist who took over Rip Kirby art duties after the passing of co-creator Alex Raymond in 1956. Prentice would remain on the strip for 43 years, until his own death in 1999. Art features three panels, showing Rip Kirby in futuristic New Atlantis, shaving and meeting president. Last panel features great overview of futuristic city. Prentice has signed and dated upper right corner of last panel, which also bears KFS copyright strip. Date stamp on back. Second panel is missing two small areas of screentone, and has some glue staining at these areas. Remaining screentone accents have aged. Top margin slightly uneven as trimmed. Art remains clean and VF/Exc.
