Item Description
Pair of artboards featuring pen and ink art by The Heart of Juliet Jones co-creator Stan Drake (1921-1997), who began the strip in 1953, continuing until 1989. Offered here is the art for two strips decades apart. Oct. 31, 1959 strip features three panels on 5-5/8x18-3/8" artboard. Art shows Governor Millson proclaiming his platonic feelings for Juliet Jones, who appears in first and last panels. Drake has signed and dated last panel. Second panel has KFS copyright strip and strip of replaced dialogue text, which has some dark aging. Screentone accents have since dried and fallen off, leaving some lt. staining to the Governor's hat and bkg. area in first panel. Back has engraver's inkstamp and date stamp. Pin holes across top margin. VF. June 27, 1978 strip features two panels on 4.25x13.75 artboard. Art shows indignant Eve promising to find out the truth about "The Fake Seth Tolliver" while Juliet questioning if that's a smart decision. Both appear in both panels. Drake has signed and dated first panel. Second panel has KFS copyright strip and screentone accent to lampshade. Exc.
