Item Description
Two separate artboards w/combined size of approx. 17x19.75" feature pen and ink original art for Aug. 14, 1955 Sunday page by Blondie creator Chic Young (1901-1973). Sunday page features 12 panels and deals w/Bumsteads looking for "stolen" delivery of chickens, using Cookie's puppies to track them down. This leads to accusations against neighbors (including Dagwood's friend Ralph Woodley, who is seen in one panel) before it's revealed the puppies ate the chickens themselves. Dogwood and Blondie appear together in all but two panels, w/Dagwood appearing by himself in last panel. Young has signed and dated last panel. KFS copyright strip at lower left. "Blondie" title paste over has darkened w/age. Printer labels at corners. Third panel features partial missing strip of text completing the word "bloodhounds." Back of bottom artboard has printer job inkstamp. Pin holes at corners to panels on top artboard and along margins. Scattered margin editorial notations w/some dust soiling and aging but overall art remains clean and VF to Exc.
