Item Description
10x20-3/8" artboard features pen and ink original art depicting wonderful full body image of the Dragon Lady, the villainess of Milton Caniff's Terry And The Pirates comic strip. When Caniff left Terry And The Pirates in 1946, artist George Wunder (1912-1987) replaced him, cementing his own legacy over the course of his 26 years on the strip. Portrait features caped Dragon Lady holding cigarette holder. Of note, large pendant necklace bears her "DL" Dragon Lady initials and her earrings have Chinese-like characters. Wunder has signed at lower left. Artboard has obvious aging and scattered pin holes/staple holes, most confined along top margin but a few scattered across Dragon Lady's body. .5" spot of moisture staining at lower left margin. .5x5-/8" triangular-shaped hole to Dragon Lady's cape has been repaired w/inked board glued to back. Back has two strips of cloth at top corners. VG overall but still nice for display.
