Item Description
14.5x22-1/8" artboard features pen and ink original art for cover to Forbidden Worlds #140, published by American Comics Group in Nov./Dec. 1966. Art is by Lou Wahl, aka Kurt Schaffenberger (1920-2002), best known for his work on Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family during both the Golden Age and Bronze Age of comics, as well as his work on the title Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane during the 1950s and 1960s. Art features cat bursting through window in terror as ghost appears and grabs man. Art has 3.5x4.25" paste-over w/hand-lettered promotional cover text. Missing word balloon paste-over above ghost's head leaves faint glue stain. Schaffenberger has signed as Lou Wahl at lower left and later signed his actual name in blue felt tip pen at lower right. Some editorial notation along bottom margin, but art o/w remains clean and VF/Exc. and would make for great framed display.
