Item Description
15x22" artboard features pen and ink original art for page 16 of Tim Holt #8, published by Magazine Enterprises, Aug. 1949. Art is by Frank Bolle (1924-2020), a comic strip/comic book artist best known as the longtime artist of the newspaper strips Winnie Winkle and The Heart Of Juliet Jones as well as for stints on the Tim Holt and Doctor Solar, Man Of The Atom comic books. Art is for title page of The Accusing Statue storyline and features large splash panel w/gunfight (which has been signed in white ink by Bolle) and two smaller panels showing two men ambushing rider w/rifles. Large "Tim Holt" title logo at upper left is paste-over stat while "The Accusing Statue" title has been hand-lettered on separate artboard and applied to main artboard. "Tim Holt" title strip paste-over at top center is aged and shows wear. Inked issue/page numbers top right and bottom margin has inked title and issue/page numbers in blue ink. Upper right corner has 7/8x2-7/8" corner piece cut out and top margin has scattered pin holes w/pin holes at bottom corners and bottom center. Last panel has text correction strip that has been taped in place on back. Artboard has some handling wear and dust soiling and is Fine overall.
