Item Description
Four artboards, measuring between 14x21.25" and 15.75x22.25" feature pen and ink original art for complete four-page "The Aliens" story titled "Talk-Down" from Magnus, Robot Fighter #9, published by Gold Key Feb. 1965. Art is by Magnus, Robot Fighter creator Russ Manning (1929-1981), a comic book artist best-known for Magnus as well as for his work on the Tarzan and Star Wars newspaper comic strips. Story deals w/Earth Space Control seeing spacecraft approaching Earth, its human crew unaware that passing through ring of gas encircling planet will render them unconscious. Earth Space Control talks unaffected alien guests on ship through landing the ship safely. First artboard has "The Aliens" paste-over and Western Publishing copyright strip at top and inked "The Aliens, Talk-Down" an "Magnus, Robot Fighter" titles and issue/pages numbers at lower left. Other artboards have inked title abbreviations and issue/page numbers at lower left. Scattered editorial notations in margins. First artboard has some faint scattered staining to first panel and is o/w VF while rest of art remains clean and Exc. Original art from complete Magnus, Robot Fighter stories is scarce.
