Item Description
Two artboards attached at center on back w/brown paper tape for approx. overall size of 23..5x30-1/8". Pen and ink original art is for two Sunday pages, published Aug. 22, 1943. Top half is The Captain And The Kids Sunday page by Rudolph Dirks (1877-1968). Art features nine panels, featuring der Captain chasing Hans and Fritz as usual, only for Mama to stop him. Once der Captain shows how they pushed him into the stream (by doing the same to Mama), she ends up spanking the pair. Bottom half features Hawkshaw The Detective Sunday page by Gus Mager (1878-1956). Art features nine panels and shows Watso and Hawkshaw spying on their neighbors. Both Sunday pages have UFS copyright strips and top half has some penciling at top margin w/printer registration marks at left/right. Scattered edge/corner tip wear w/a few small edge tears (largest being .5" and 1" along bottom) and scattered tiny age spots. VF overall.
