Item Description
13-1/8x19.5" artboard features pen and ink original art by Jack Kirby (1917-1994), inked by Vince Colletta (1923-1991) from same issue as previous item. Art is for page 10 and features three panels, showing disguised Pluto revealing his true identity and gloating along w/Hippolyta, revealing Hercules has just erroneously signed a Hollywood "contract" when in fact he signed to take over ruling Hades from Pluto. Bottom splash panel reveals opening of Hades. Hercules is seen in every panel, as are Pluto and Hippolyta. Top margin has stamped Journey Into Mystery title and inked issue/page numbers and month of publication. Top margin also has penciled editorial notation pertaining to action of this page. Similar text along bottom margin. Margins have some scattered dust soiling w/minor spot of staining just left of bottom center. Top left corner has been clipped, not affecting art. Back has rough pencil sketch of head (artist not noted) and handwritten pencil text. Aside from mention spot of staining, art remains clean and would display Exc. if framed. Great early Hercules content.
