Item Description
7.25x23" thin artboard w/India ink original art for Nov. 1, 1956 daily strip by Dick Tracy creator Chester Gould. Art features four panels, showing Officer Lizz Worthington-Grove asking the mute Spec and then Jimmy Worthington about the counterfeiter Ivy, proceeding to call Dick Tracy and Sam Catchem and ask them about the man. Tracy asks Lizz if she thinks Spec would recognize a photo of the perp, w/last panel revealing photo of Ivy on police photographer's desk. Dick Tracy appears in third panel and is partially seen again in last panel. Gould has signed last panel. Top margin has "Dick Tracy" title written in pencil. First panel bears date and third panel has Chicago Tribune copyright strip. Upper left corner has inked date. Back has engraver inkstamp. Small spot of tape staining to left of first panel and on Spec's skirt in second panel. Pin holes at corners and two sets of staple holes along top margin. Artboard shows some handling wear and is Fine overall. Art could be matted for nice display.
