Item Description
10x15" artboard has mixed media preliminary original art of a majestic scantily-clad woman flanked by two large lizard monsters. Referred to as Primeval Princess, art was created in the late 1970s by Peruvian artist Boris Vallejo, best known for his hyper-representational paintings, which have appeared on the covers of numerous sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks and are featured in a series of best-selling calendars. Subjects of his paintings are typically sword and sorcery gods, monsters, and well-muscled male and female barbarians engaged in battle. The final version of this art was used as the cover of The Fantastic Art Of Boris Vallejo and has since been reproduced for many purposes. Boris has signed art are in black ink at lower right and again (signing his full name this time) below art area. Lower left has hand-lettered "#5" notation. Margins have aged masking tape, which is wrapped onto back. Art remains clean and could be matted and framed for an Exc. display. Comes w/signed limited edition portfolio booklet, in which this preliminary art was published.
