Item Description
Large and impressive 20x30" Bainbridge Board features original art oil painting by Ken Barr (1933-2016), a Scottish artist who drew and painted for DC and Marvel Comics, Doc Savage magazine covers, as well as providing the art for sci-fi and fantasy novel and magazine covers. Cover art was for the 1979 edition of Andre Norton's 1963 sci-fi novel and features main character Naill wearing futuristic spacesuit/armor (w/albeit cracked helmet shield), carrying harpoon gun and what appears to be a tracking device. A crashed spacecraft can be seen in bkg. and Naill is surrounded by three rhino-like alien beasts as he trudges through Janus swamp. Highly detailed, art includes swamp snake coiled around Barr's signature at lower right. Back of board has large book title and author name, as well as artist's name and collector label. Board has some scattered corner tip/edge wear, most notably at lower left and two tiny spots of missing paint at lower right. Artboard is technically Fine/VF, but art could be framed for an Exc. display.
