Item Description
Approx. 13.5x21.25" artboard has pencil original art by Gene Colan that has been inked by Vince Colletta. Art is for page 2 of "Tales To Astonish" #78, published by Marvel April 1966. Page features three large panels from "The Prince And The Puppet" Sub-Mariner story, which saw Sub-Mariner attack deep sea drilling operation led by Hank Pym that was causing underwater earthquakes. Page shows Pym knocking soldier's gun away as he shoots at Namor. Bullet hits oxygen tank, which leads to fire, from which Namor recoils. Hank Pym is seen in his civilian identity in first and last panel, joined by Janet Van Dyne. Sub-Mariner appears in last panel, his arm across his face in an attempt to shield himself from the flames. Top margin has stamped title abbreviation and handwritten issue/page numbers. Top margin also has two handwritten pencil captions for top two panels. Bottom margin has partial pencil caption. Back has partial Comics Code Authority inkstamp. Some lt. scattered dust soiling to margins, but art remains clean and Exc.
