Item Description
"The Flintstones" was originally broadcast from Sept. 30, 1960, until April 1, 1966, as the first animated series to hold a prime time slot and was the most financially successful and longest-running network animated franchise for three decades, until "The Simpsons" debuted in 1989. Offered here are two extraordinary pieces from the first season of "The Flintstones" - hand-inked/painted animation cels from the opening sequence of the show. Both are on 10.5x12.5" acetate sheets and both feature image areas of approx. 3x4". Both feature full body images of Fred Flintstone. First shows him picking up dry cleaning while second shows him carrying bag of groceries. This is from the sponsor variant opening that was used on some episodes (and ended w/an Alka-Seltzer ad). Tiny mark across Fred's eye on second cel, but o/w both feature full paint and display Exc. Historic animation art.
