Item Description
19.25x27.25" Strathmore artboard has pen and ink original art by Mike Arens for Aug. 14, 1960 Sunday page. Title/title illustration panel is stat paste-over (which shows some glue staining). Page features nine panels of art, w/Roy Rogers appearing in five of those panels, being locked in a cellar w/unconscious Pike. They team-up and break out. Bottom margin has been boldly signed in black felt tip pen "Happy Trails - Roy Rogers & Trigger." Inscription/signature have aged slightly, but remain totally legible. Margins have some additional editorial notations w/stamp at top left. Second to last panel has strip of text removed w/replaced strip panel (tape visible on back). Pin holes at corners. Artboard has several small insect holes, largest measuring 1/8". These blend somewhat and are not overly distracting. Fine overall. Inscription/signature display VF. "Roy Rogers" Sunday page original art is much scarcer than daily original art, this example is even more unique, having been signed by the Western legend himself. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
